HI, I’M MORGAN!

As a Principal User Experience (UX) Researcher, my mission is to create holistic experiences for the marginalized or unheard. Whether it’s in tech or travel, equity-focused design is my method of practice. I believe that if we uplift those most marginalized, everyone is uplifted. As such, I apply user experience research insights in various industries to design responsible systems for all users.

My journey into UX was an unconventional process which endured countless hurdles. As a Google "pipeline product," I was intended to be one of the poster children of the ideal diversity recruitment strategy, where underrepresented groups were able to enter and thrive at Google. In reality, my experience was the exact opposite. 3 months into my HR role, I quickly recognized that I was improperly leveled and slotted into the wrong organization. I was determined to transfer into a research position in Tech. However, I was told by several internal recruiters that my dream to be a UX Researcher was "impossible." If I wanted to defy the odds, I knew I needed to advocate for myself and work smarter.

After strategically scoping my own roles across 5 teams, 3 years, and 2 countries, I successfully completed what my recruiters and managers told me was impossible: a diagonal ladder transfer (up level and cross department at the same time). My journey from Analyst in the HR Department to a Researcher in the Engineering Department is a story of strategy, determination, risk and reward.

After landing UX role, I knew to be a holistic researcher, I knew I needed to learn more about the complete product lifecycle: Design and Engineering. To grow my design skills, I left Google for start up life and became AI UX Researcher at Compass. To grow my Engineering skills, I then became the Principal UX Researcher at Pluralsight.

After becoming a generalist in UX, I new my mission could not be completely fulfilled while working a 9-5. Instead of using my skills to build someone else’s dream, I wanted to spend time to build mine. As such, I founded RRC to apply inclusive UX strategy in both the technology and travel industries, with the overarching goal of creating holistic experiences.

I am excited to share my learnings with the tech and travel community in hopes that they inspire someone to not give up on what they set out to do. Regardless of what people say, nothing is impossible. I am a living example of what can happen when you don’t take no for an answer.

I am excited to show how UXR can be applied in different disciplines to design responsible and holistic experiences.
